International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI)

Transparency and accountability are at the heart of our work. Transparency International believes that these core principles apply equally to all sectors, including aid and development.

Transparency International has been a Steering Committee member of the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) since its creation in 2008. IATI aims to make aid information more timely, comparable, compatible and accessible to the most important stakeholder: people. Through IATI we have worked to develop a common donor reporting standard to track how much aid goes where and for what purpose. Now we are working with other civil society actors to also adopt this standard for our own organisations. Below you can see what we have already published. Opening our books to the public is not new. Transparency International is a member of the International NGO Accountability Charter, which outlines clear common guidelines for transparency and accountability. Since 2008, our secretariat has also provided detailed and open information on its income and expenditures through its use of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

In addition to publishing our financial statements, we also make public external evaluations, implementation plans and our secretariat's operating budgets.
