Statement on allegations by Mr. de Swardt

Transparency International (TI) has recently become aware of a number of allegations made by a former Managing Director of TI, Cobus de Swardt, relating to events surrounding his employment at TI’s Secretariat in Berlin.

In 2017, Mr. de Swardt and TI reached a settlement agreement with rights and duties for both parties at the Labour Court in Berlin. Mr. de Swardt has breached the terms of this settlement agreement by releasing a document with untrue and misleading allegations. To our knowledge this document has been shared with a number of TI stakeholders. We are saddened and surprised by Mr. de Swardt’s actions and are taking the necessary steps to resolve the situation.
